Responses to various postings:

To Fractal on Delphi concering Andy Hertzfeld's new company and product:

Andy, Burrell Smith and other ex-Apple types are working on a large
external screen for the current Mac. They, I think, will be showing it
at the Boston MacWorld Show.

To dlnash@ut-ngp.UUCP concerning SetFile 2.0 DA not working with
the new system and finder:

I posted SetFile 3.3 DA to mod.mac.binaries about two weeks ago and
it has yet to show up. It is HFS, MFS, new system & finder compatable.
If it doesn't show up in a day or so, I'll post it to net.sources.mac.

Comments on MPW in general:

It will probably not be a finished product until November 1986, however, as
was noted on Delphi, sometime in late August or September, it will be
available in a pre-release form. Apple is going to annouce some new
developers association at the Boston show which will handle the sales
and distribution of developer type stuff (ie. tech notes, software supplement,
MPW, etc...). I've been using MPW for about 5 months now, and it truely
is a wonderful system. The new resource compiler, Rez, is especially hot.
Price is still unknown.

The Lightspeed Pascal Compiler, which will also be available in Boston, looks
pretty hot as well. It has all the debugging and formatting features of
MacPascal, the compilation and link speed of Lightspeed C, and a price tag of
$125. Can you say "Source level debugger"? I was impressed with the demo.
You could step through your code with the little hand pointing to each pascal
statement as it executes (a la MacPascal). Too bad I don't program in pascal.
