[net.micro.mac] Business Software for the MacPlus

gauchs@unc.UUCP (Susan E. Gauch) (07/29/86)

I am choosing software to use in a "Computer Literacy" course
to be offered this fall. The business software seems the most
confusing, and I'd appreciate peoples comments on any of the following:

Microsoft Excel
Lotus Jazz
Microsoft Multiplan + Chart
Filevision
ClickOn (specifically, has anyone generated business graphics from
a ClickOn spreadsheet? What graphics package did you use?
         Was it EASY to do?)

Any comments are appreciated, especially those comparing any of the
above options. If anyone in the Chapel Hill area has a copy of
Filevision or Jazz I could borrow for an hour, I'd appreciate it.

	1) I use ClickOn, and find that it is great, given its stated limits.
The spreadsheet is, I think 20*50, and graphing is limited to about 15 points.
On the other hand, it is nice to be able to download a set of data, Cut it
and then Activate ClickOn and Paste, and Graph.
	2) Every thing that I have heard is that EXCEL is the standard package
for most people who are doing things of that nature on the MAC. It looks
as tho the majority of the templates etc. are being developed for EXCEL.
