A few years ago I was introduced to a "war-game" called Empire on a VAX running VMS. My officemate just found a copy of the program to run on his AT&T PC 6300 Plus and it works wonderfully. Has anybody seen this game for the Mac? Or does anybody know where the original source code came from? If someone could direct me towards the source code, I would be happy to convert it for the Mac and distribute it on the net, assuming of course that the original author doesn't mind. The response to my inquiry for a Mac version of "Empire" was overwhelming. A game called "Strategic Conquest" from PBI Software is an enhanced version of the wargame with which I was familiar. Unfortunately, I couldn't respond individually to each reply so I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who so graciously took time to respond to my article. the copy-protection of this game is particularly "cute". when it detects that you are playing a copy, it cheats .... and beats the hell out of you. unfortunately, with a Mac+ or MacEnhanced, it even considers the original game disk a "pirate-copy" and cheats. Anyone know how to defeat it? ---Werner (any complaints about me wanting to disarm the copy protection go straight into the BIG file)

BTW, as regards defeating copy protection, since my original game disk self-destructed one sunny Sunday morning (and since PBI has no system for providing backup copies), I wuz certainly glad thjat Copy II Mac existed! Now if only they'd come out with a version that works with an 800K drive... --- das

Actually, they DO have a Copy II Mac for 800K, they just don't have MacTools. Most people haven't gotten the 800K Copy II Mac simply to avoid purchasing TWO updates at $15 each.
