I just received an announcement from TML Systems for their (his) v2.0 upgrade. The enhancements Mr. Leonard lists include: o Object Pascal as defined by Apple Computer (what exactly is this?) o Units for separate compilation o Error messages with line numbers o Compiler generated program listings o Better code generation with FOR, CASE, parameter passing, and several expression classes o EXIT, SIZEOF with identifiers, REWRITE, and RESET o List Manager, SCSI, and 'other' Mac Plus ROM routines o Something dealing with type casting Upgrade Costs: o Two new disks and a booklet describing difference/enhancements $25.00 o Two new disks and a new manual $35.00 I'm not sure what the whole package costs though. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eric Gould, from Think Technologies came by the University of Utah and demonstrated Lightspeed Pascal. Seems very nice, but not quite ideal. My biggest objection may be the programs forced formatting. It does seem like a very good product though. List price is $125.00, but Eric Gould said that it would be available through mail order for $89.00. It'll be release on August 14 to coincide with the MacWorld Expo at Boston. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've been hearing talk about the Macintosh Programming Workshop (MPW) here on the net. Apparently, it contains a Pascal Compiler, C Compiler, Assembler, and other tools. How much will it cost? When will it be available? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've already bought TML, and have been basically pleased with it. But I'm faced with the question of should I upgrade or wait. Can we get programmers who have used two or more of the above to compare and contrast them? I think it would be a very worth while discussion. Eric -- UUCP: {ihnp4, seismo, hplabs, decvax, arizona}!utah-cs!ivancich ARPA: ivancich@utah-cs
