Greetings - I just saw this happen twice so I thought I would pass it on and let you all comment on it. In MacWrite (4.5; System 3.1; Finder 5.2), on a 512k Mac, try the following: 1) Open a document, drag through 30 lines or so and cut them. 2) Close that document, discarding your changes (thus leaving it unmodified.) 3) Open a new document, paste in the 30 lines. 4) Close the new document - saving it as you do. 5) Now re-open the original document. When I re-opened the original document, I found myself at the last page of the document (not where I was when I left it before). Not wanting to be there, I clicked in the scroll bar once - we moved up as expected. Twice - and the new location for the scroll indicator showed on the bar - both locations were being shown in fact! Then the screen went into major paroxysms and finally announced that a "system error has occurred." No kidding. Anyone know why this should happen? Why is something that is so trivial to do in "vi" so deadly in MacWrite? Does anyone know how to chop a larger (but not really large) file into pieces, other than the method outlined above? Curious... Cheers... Jim Jenal (aka ...!scgvaxd!mss!jpj) Mayfield Senior School ( " ...!ihnp4!mss!jpj)
