I'm posting this for a friend who does not have access to USENET news. From what I remember the problem with MacDraw and fonts is fixable, but I can't remember how; the other problem I haven't seen before. Any e-mail replies to me. ------------------------------------------------------------------- I have two problems with MacDraw. 1. MacDraw will only handle 11 fonts at once. I want to have about 20 available. I have heard that MacDraw can be hacked with FEdit or similar to allow more fonts. Does anyone have details? 2. If I delete a font from the System file with Font/DA Mover, I find that text in MacDraw files now appears in a different font. The effect is almost exactly as if MacDraw is storing the font information associated with a piece of text as simply an index into its font menu. E.g. if I remove the Cairo font, text which had been entered in Times is afterwards in Venice (or whichever font happens to come after Times) Can anything be done about this? I say "almost exactly", as occasionally fonts change in other ways e.g. Bookman once turned into N Helvetica Narrow, without any other fonts changing (including N Helvetica Narrow itself, which is inconsistent with my suggested explanation). It was suggested to me that the problem might be in Font/DA mover version 3.1 rather than MacDraw, but the effect occurs for me with both 3.1 and 3.0. On the other hand, all my System files have been operated on at various times with Font/DA Mover version 3.1, and if 3.1 is the problem, reverting to 3.0 might not cure the damage. I also find that 3.0 now crashes frequently, unless it is the first application run after startup. I also tried adding fonts to the resource fork of the MacDraw document, but only found that MacDraw pays no attention to them. My system is: MacPlus, System version 3.1, Finder 5.1, MacDraw 1.7, Font/DA Mover versions 3.0 and 3.1. I need a solution to this problem. I normally work with MacWrite and MacDraw on a startup disk with which I do all my text processing. The behaviour of MacDraw when fonts are added or removed means that I have to have in the System file all the fonts I will ever use, and never change that set. This is bad enough, but the limitation to 11 fonts makes it unworkable. ------------------------------------------------------ Thanks in advance. Can't help with the first, but the second bug is discussed in the latest *MacUser* -- Apple says that they are working on it, and hope to have it fixed in the next version of MacDraw (2.0, I believe).
