[net.micro.mac] Concerns on upgrade from 512K to 512K-Enhanced

harrow@exodus.dec.com (Jeff Harrow, NCSE LKG1-3/F16 DTN=226-7445) (08/18/86)

I am about to upgrade my 512K Mac to the 512K-Extended version
(adding the new 128K ROMS and 1 800K internal disk drive, but NOT
the Mac+ logic board). I have an Apple HD20 hard disk which, of
course, runs off the external drive port.

My question, after hearing various comments about the Installer
problems, is:

Once the upgrade has taken place, will my HD20 work as is, or do
I have to perform some surgery on the System 3.2 already on that
disk?

Also, what must I do to the various programs stuck (by copy
protection) on floppies?

Could anyone who has gone this route post a summary of what has
to be done, and what problems to look out for?

Many thanks,

Jeff

>The new system will work without any mod, throw away the HD20 file
you will no longer need it and the Hd20 itself will auto-boot..
and Copy ][ HD or Hd Util or MAczap will allow you to get most CP stuff to
your HD20...
