Spured on by a comment in a previous article, I attempted to use the Journal DA again (taken from the original Mac512K Guided Tour disk). As last time I extracted it from the System file and pasted it into a blank new file with ResEdit (Alpha version), used GetInfo to change it from a Driver to a DA, and removed the leading 'period' from the name. I then used Font/DA Mover V3.2 to pull it from that document (just a generic document) and copy it into a new DA document. This done, I used Font/DA Mover to move it into the current System file. Using my Mac-Plus, I choose the Journal DA and it put up its extra menu. However, after choosing the Record function, the cursor froze and I had to reboot. I tried this several times but all to no avail. Well, I said to myself, there must be some change in the Mac-Plus which caused the old, unsupported Journal DA to not work: OK, I'll just pull it out of the Mac-Plus Guided Tour Disk! Well, feeling smug (computers sure can fix THAT problem) I put the NEW Journal DA into my System and chose it. Well, nothing crashed, but then neither did it even put up its extra menu. So, "Myself", I said, "since you pulled this DA out of the system file with ResEdit, perhaps you missed an "owned resource" for the menu..." Alas, no MENU resourse at all in System... Does anyone have any good ideas? (BTW, I'm using an HD-20, System 3.2/Finder 5.3 if that might be relavent). Thanks, Jeff
