How does one go about transferring ASCII files between UNIX and the Mac? It seems that when an ASCII file is downloaded from UNIX, the tabs and newlines get confused in the transfer and the file, once loaded on the Mac, looks quite strange. I believe the the download used Versaterm and used the "save stream" menu item. I appologize for the lack of details. Thanks for any ideas... --Bill

Probably the best way to transfer an ascii file to the mac from a unix system is to use tr on the unix system to convert the newlines to carriage returns: tr \\012 \\015 < input > output Then download the file using whatever "binary" mode transfer protocol you choose. -- David W.
