I remember seeing an announcement for an HP LJ Driver somewhere a long time ago. Does it really exist? Is it good(ie reasonable looking output in MacDraw)? How do I get it(price,Company Phone number)? THANXS Ted Alonso ihnp4!ihlpl!juracan This space left intentionally blank

Yes, a product exists that allows a Mac to output to a HP Laserjet. Its called Laserstart from SoftStyle. It is addressed in the Mac as a desk acc. ruther then through chooser. The end result looks like it was done on an Imagewriter with a new ribbon. There is a reasion that the HP Laserjet costs only half as much as the laserjet. The laserjet+ can only handle 1/2 page of high resalution graphics and the laserjet not even that. The Laserjet can not download laserwriter fonts from the Mac. It does NOT perform smoothing. The only advantages the Laserjet currently have over an Imagewriter is that it is quieter and faster. Other than that I haven't seen any advantages. Wait untill the Laserwriter prices come down and keep a fresh ribbon around for the Imagewriter when you want Laserjet quality Printing with graphics or Macfonts. These openions are definatly myown and NOT those of my employers On the otherhand, go ahead and buy a Laserjet. It will help my profit sharing check.
