	APPLE DECIDES TO WITHDRAW FROM COMDEX/FALL

Cupertino, Calif. - Apple has pulled out of COMDEX/Fall.

...decide that its current marketing needs can be best met through sponsor-
ship and participation "in more focused events".  ... but decided to vest
our resources in Apple-sponsored events, such as vertical-specific confer-
ences such as MacWorld.

Apple participates in more than 50 trade shows a year but says it will
continue to deemphasize "larger, horizontal trade shows," ...

[ Even though I have myself predicted the decline of COMDEX (and am in good
  company at that) I can't help but wonder though.  Just when some major
  companies have started a "MAC-only" policy because they determined that
  it takes only 20% of the effort to learn to do something, and when Apple
  thus could cause the IBM-world at the show to feel like they are on the
  sinking boat that they are on (-: ... Apple lets the opportunity to
  humiliate the PC slip through their fingers.  Am I missing something? ]

.. more than doubled income in fiscal '86, ending Sept 26 despite nearly
flat sales, Apple's net-income soared from 61 to 154 million.....
