A net discussion on text editors for Un*x systems earlier this fall included a lot of praise for the Rand editor (called `ned', among other things) as an easily-learned, powerful text editor. Could someone please mail me the address at Rand which I should contact to obtain a copy? Alternatively, since I believe that the editor is non-proprietary, is there an arpa host from which I can obtain it by ftp? As usual, thanks in advance. -- Doug Bates @ wisconsin ARPA: bates@wisc-stat.arpa bates@uwisc (if you have the old host table) UUCP: ...!{allegra,heurikon,ihnp4,seismo,sfwin,ucbvax,uwm-evax}!uwvax!bates

The Rand Editor "E" is the modern version of the rather old and crufty ned editor. We're still working on it and will have a new version 'E18' out around December 1. [The current version is E17]. The distribution includes full sources to the Editor and to the Rand "MH" mail handling software. We have put both into the public domain, but still charge a $250 handling fee to for the hassle of doing a distribution. Interested parties may write or call for more info: E/MH Distribution Rand Corporation 1700 Main Street Santa Monica, CA 90406 phone: (213)393-0411 ask for "E & MH Distribution" uucp: decvax!randvax!distribu arpa: distribu@rand-unix -- Jim Guyton p.s. the distribution is much too big for net.sources.
