[ Is there REALLY a line-eater out there ... ? ]
Has anyone out there grappled successfully with the problem of
converting DEC standard RUNOFF to some kind of more portable form? The
possibilities that occur to me include:
1. A "generic" RUNOFF written in C.
2. A set of nroff macros that simulate the RUNOFF command set.
3. A filter to translate RUNOFF commands into nroff or roff
format.
Please note that I am interested specifically in Digital Standard
Runoff (sic), not roff, tpr, nro or the various other text-formatters
floating around in netland.
Would anyone who has implemented any of the above be kind enough to
mail it (or information on it) to me? I'm certainly prepared to hack
something that isn't working properly, so perfection is not a
prerequisite.
