[ Is there REALLY a line-eater out there ... ? ] Has anyone out there grappled successfully with the problem of converting DEC standard RUNOFF to some kind of more portable form? The possibilities that occur to me include: 1. A "generic" RUNOFF written in C. 2. A set of nroff macros that simulate the RUNOFF command set. 3. A filter to translate RUNOFF commands into nroff or roff format. Please note that I am interested specifically in Digital Standard Runoff (sic), not roff, tpr, nro or the various other text-formatters floating around in netland. Would anyone who has implemented any of the above be kind enough to mail it (or information on it) to me? I'm certainly prepared to hack something that isn't working properly, so perfection is not a prerequisite. I'm using a friend's account to post this, please respond directly to me by one of the following routes: uucp: {seismo|ihnp4|allegra}!cmcl2!hipl!tony arpa: hipl!tony@nyu-cmcl2 usps: Prof. J. A.
