We are looking for a set of routines which do straightforward mathematical analysis of numerical data. You know, stuff like mean and standard deviation, polynomial curve fitting, linear (or polynomial) regression analysis, error analysis, confidence tests, etc. It would also be nice to have these routines packaged into stand-alone programs so if someone has a list of numbers in a file, they just have to say "% sdev file" and have the standard deviation printed out, etc. I guess what I am looking for is something along the lines of the Scientific Subroutine Package that is so common. While I would appreciate pointers to sources where I can get the SSP for 4.2 bsd, I've always thought that the SSP routines were a real pain to use. Is there anything better out there? -- allegra!phri!roy (Roy Smith) System Administrator, Public Health Research Institute
