OK. OK. Here's what I found out about RATFOR and Fortran 77. I got a lot of responses from people who had or almost had what we needed. My thanks to them for responding. The greatest number of responses said we needed the Software Tools User's Groups's version of RATFOR, but several of the same people wondered if there still was such a group. Is there ? Several people also offered a RATFOR written in RATFOR, which could be modified and booted up to the right level. I would give names and addresses, but I'm not sure these people want that. If you are really desperate, send me mail and I can pass a few names to you privately. In the meantime one of our more industrious programmers hacked the DECUS version and got it running on several different systems under F77 (Vax VMS, Masscomp Unix, Perkin Elmer Unix (I think)). The bulk of the changes were converting character strings repesented as byte arrays to another form (he used F77 CHARACTER variables). If anyone wants a copy of this, send me mail and we can arrange something (like a floppy or tape trade). It's not very pretty, but it does work. Gray Abbott Creare Inc.
