does anyone have a tape test program for use under Unix, preferably
4.2? I have a VERY SIMPLE program that writes until a hard error,
rewinds, and reads until a hard error, reporting back how much of the
tape is usable up to the first error. Something better would be nice.

It also does multiple passes to check those interrecord gap areas, too! I will mail it to the original poster, and to anyone else who sends me mail asking for it.
