[net.misc] Klaus Barbey's trial

jim (02/10/83)

Any comments on the extradition and upcoming trial of Klaus Barbey,
"the Butcher of Lyon" in France?

Why not try Idi Amin, August Pinochet, the people responsible for the first
holocaust of the century in which thousands of Armenians were killed in the
1900's or some of the other characters who have pulled similar tricks in
the Third World and elsewhere before and since WWII? Or is Barbey just
a scapegoat for the French government, to prove that French society
*really* isn't anti-semetic?

Why not indeed? But if you don't it's not much of a reason not to
try anyone for anything.
