[net.misc] turtleva.155: Temporary file names

My own favorites are 'a', 'aa', 'aaa', ad nauseum.

My favorites are "frob" and "delete.me". I've been told that "frob" is
sexist by an old timer in computers... His comment was that the term
"frob" came out of MIT where it was first used (computer wise) in a
program remark "This was added to get around the XXX system which has more
holes than a pig has Frobs...". I don't know if this is true.

foo.*, bar.*, gag.*, *.foo, *.bar, *.gag

(That "." business is called an "extension" by most DEC operating systems,
and "file type" (erroneously) by VMS, for all you Unix only types.)

"Frob: one of the small things which hang off of railroad yard poles."
This definition was originated at the Tech Model RailRoad Club (of MIT)
many years ago, and was modified to mean the many small things which
encrust most computer programs...
