To all of the 25 people who sent me mail (and the inevitable couple
of dozen of orphaned mail items sitting out there) requesting copies
of the Software Tools in Pascal software that I've typed in for VM/CMS:
I will be posting them to the net in a couple of days.
The software IS copyright by Brian Kernighan and Bill Plauger. But,
I've just gotten word from Brian Kernighan that it is okay to post
them. They figure that it would be better for them if the software
is posted so as to increase the sales of their book. I will post
them as soon as I can get some copyright notices into the portions
of the sources derived from the book and get a quick approval of
the wording from Brian. The restrictions (I assume) will be the
usual:
Right to further distribute and modify is freely granted
as long as this copyright notice remains intact and
distribution is not for commercial gain.
I will be putting the same notice on the portions of the code that
I have written.
Brian and Bill have done us all a great service by writing the books,
publishing the source code, AND allowing me to publically post it.
It's well worth the price of the book.
