[net.wanted.sources] A fast man with search path

kurt@wucs.UUCP (Kurt H. Haserodt) (07/06/85)

I've seen references to a faster manual command (for 4.2 bsd or elsewhere)
which also allows for a search path environment specification. Does anybody
have or know of such a program? Could they send it to me?

Thanks in advance.

we have reworked man to use a dbm database, its much faster. the database
also knows about internal names ( for example the "string(3)" entry has many
internal names, strcat, strncat etc ) and "man strncat" will do a man of
string.

if there is enough requests i can post a diff ( copyrighted sources etc ).
