[] I'm looking for a spelling program that can GUESS as the spelling of a word that is spelled incorrectly. The ideal human interface for such a program [for me] would be something like Sensible Speller for the Apple ][ micro com- puter. [I use Sensible Speller only as an example because I like the way that SS guesses at words, and allows you to list things in various ways] For those who don't know just what Sensible Speller does, here is a SHORT description: It 'spell's it [basicly] and then prompts the user what to do about a misspelled word. If you choose the 'Guess' option, it will begin searching the dictionary for words that "come close" to the current misspelled word. SS will find and list any words that "come close" to the misspelled word. It JUST lists them -- it will not blindly replace words it thinks it can. I currently HAVE the follow two programs -- both of which are good but don't guess at misspellings: > correct: a program to find and correct spelling errors > AUTHOR: Tovah Hollander and Rik Verstraete. and > fix2 -- interactively match and correct errors produced by spell etc. > Based on `fix' by Pat Locke > Fix2 by Alexis Dimitriadis (alexis @ reed) -- Reed College I'm willing to send the above program sources to anyone requesting them. Any source or pointers to such will be highly appreciated. We run a VAX 11/780 under 4.2BSD. >>> /// Dave Shaver -=*=- Located at Iowa State University -- Ames, IA \\\ UUCP: {okstate||umn-cs||csu-cs}!isucs1!shaver CSNET: shaver@iowa-state >>>
