Back in my high school in Livonia, New York we named our computers (one terminal and a bunch of micros) with out-of-the-way names. Tex Gertrude Igor Issabel (Izzy for short) Agatha Herbert and Martha (one of the math teachers' name) (If your name appears on this list my condolences.) May I suggest to anyone getting a new vax... carpetvax thumbvax teavax incomevax excizevax etc... I know those were pretty weak, but what the heck. How 'bout "vax the knife"? No? How about: candlevax floorvax earvax beesvax Johnsonvax etc... These even sound like you have a slight German accent if you say them right. I hope I've help someone come up with something. (But I doubt I have.) Ryan

The MIT Lab for Computer Science just got a bunch of vaxes this year, and here are there names: ajax, bold, borax, comet, dash, dutch, fab, mrclean, and tide. [Ugh. Almost as bad as dogs or ducks]. Anyway, my favorite host name was su-robotics-ha-ha which existed in the MIT host table for a week.
