[net.wanted.sources] Wanted: Graphics software/databases for movie

nazgul@apollo.uucp (Kee Hinckley) (12/31/85)

....

Hi,

Some of you may have seen the Apollo movie at Siggraph last year. Well
we're at it again, and since once again the limiting factor is people-time
not compute-time we'd like to gather together as much public-domain stuff
as we can find. In particular we are looking for the following:

	o Graphics Databases
Any public domain graphics database you might have, in
whatever format. In particular we'd be interested in any
databases of textures, human/animal shapes, or movement,
but by no means take that as a restriction.

	o Graphics Software
Any rendering or drawing packages, or anything else that
you think might be useful. Ideally of course this would
work on an Apollo, but if it is potentially portable that
		would be fine too.

	o Anything else of interest

What do you get out of it? Well, if we use something of yours in a
movie you'll get appropriate mention in the credits. Also I will post a
list of whatever I do get for distribution to anyone else who is interested.

If you have something you think WE might be interested in DON'T MAIL IT
TO ME YET! Send me mail detailing:

	o What it is
o What format it is in
o Who (if anyone) owns it
o What restrictions there are on its use/distribution
	o Your USENET address

I'll get back to you and let you know if we want it, and we can make
arrangements for sending it (either by netmail or some other means if the
size warrants). Also please get in touch with me if you know of anyone who
might have something we'd be interested in.

P.S. The above statements should not be taken as representative of the
concepts, ideas, goals, intentions or opinions of Apollo Computer.
The movie effort is not an officially sponsored Apollo project, but
rather the result of frenzied hacking engendered by the realization
that 800 computers can do a weeks worth of work in 12 minutes,
and we had 800 computers sitting idle every night.
