We have a MicroVAX II running ULTRIX, and an 11/70 running 2.8BSD. The machines will be connected in a low-tech way, probably uucp. We're looking for a GKS product for each. One way that we envision making use of the standardization inherent in the product is that the '70 will often act as the spooler for plot files generated by users of the VAX, on which most of our data analysis will take place. We know about the ULTRIX-based product from Prior Data Sciences. It is a level 2b implementation of GKS, and is fairly affordable. Our problem is the '70. The vendors we've talked to don't offer a product for a machine without virtual memory, and have told us we don't stand a chance of cramming it in to our 64K process size. Are there any 11/70 GKS products out there? We might even accept less than a level 2b implementation, and restrict the '70's actions to output-only batch style plotting. I'd appreciate anybody's thoughts or suggestions. We do have severe cost limitations. The MicroVax binary-only license is hard enough to swallow. What we're looking for is a no-frills GKS for the poor old '70, something with which it can grow old gracefully. Jeff -- Jeff Percival ...!uwvax!uwmacc!jwp
