I am looking for a "structured text editor" which runs on (or can readily be ported to) Berkeley 4.2 UNIX. One might also call it a hierarchical text editor or outline processor. The general idea is to allow one to compose a large textual document by first working on its outline, then examining each step in the outline and doing a similar expansion. At any time, one should be able to "pop up" to a higher level of the document and examine it without seeing the detailed text at the lower levels. Also, it should be easy to move a block of text (including its internal structure) from one place in the document to another. I have heard of products like this in the micro-computer world, but have not yet heard of a similar editor for UNIX and would appreciate any references. -- Steve Klein (srk@panda)
