>Many people have been interested in the PD version of ANSI.SYS for the PC. >A version called FANSI.SYS exists on many bulletin boards, but many of us >do not have access to them. Could someone please post sources and uuencoded >copies of the programs to the net for us who need it. you know, i had thought of posting the latest version (1.12) of FANSI CONSOLE(tm), but, as you can see by the list below, it's quite a large distribution. i haven't the time or inclination to upload these and then UUDECODE the executables. you can, however, call PC-LINK CENTRAL RBBS (1-812-824-7990) and download FCONSOLE.ARC. It contains the following files: Volume in drive A is FCONSOLE Directory of A:\ ANSI40 TXT 12032 2-22-85 8:58p ANSI80 TXT 23168 2-22-85 8:57p DEJAVU EXE 10734 8-30-85 11:25a DIZZY C 7936 12-09-84 4:08p DVORAK TXT 1152 10-23-84 4:11p FCONBETA DEV 26631 9-05-85 1:13p FCONSOLE DEV 24119 9-05-85 1:13p FLAYOUT EXE 28736 8-29-85 11:16a MGC203 PCH 1408 8-29-85 9:41a RAWMODE MAC 2432 5-07-85 10:59a SK111 PCH 2560 8-29-85 9:41a SNOW COM 790 7-05-85 6:54p SPIT EXE 14764 7-07-84 8:17p STANDARD LAY 184 7-14-85 7:17p WATZITDO COM 620 8-27-85 4:32p WORDSTAR PCH 1152 8-29-85 9:42a FCONSOLE HST 20992 9-01-85 1:58p README NOW 2432 8-14-85 3:00p FCONSOLE DQC 136979 12-07-85 8:53p 19 File(s) 32768 bytes free -- -- .^. michael regoli /|\ ...ihnp4!inuxc!iuvax!isrnix!mr '|!|` <mr@isrnix.UUCP>

The latest version as of 1/17/86 was 1.15. You can get directly from the authors at Hersey Micro Consulting, Inc. They have a bbs that operates between 11pm and 8am ET (313-994-3946). I've used FCONSOLE.DEV (aka FANSI.SYS) for a couple of days now, and my only complaints with it are: 1. The price. They want $75 bucks for the complete manual. The stuff you download for free DOES NOT contain the complete manual. The chapter on advanced features (vt100 mode, 50 line screens, ...) is intentionally left out. 2. There licensing agreement and all the garbage explaining it is 20+ pages. This isn't "freeware". (That means that this posting may be considered somewhat commercial by some people. Tough. It was already being discussed, and I have no connections with the authors anyways) ---------- Ray Galvin
