[net.wanted.sources] Looking for crypt

hokey@plus5.UUCP (02/24/86)

We have a client who needs to emulate the crypt(1) functions of Unix.
They have a remote application which runs on Unix and non-Unix systems,
and they require encrypt/decrypt capability. Since a goodly portion of
their customer base is expected to be turnkey Unix minis, they want to be
able to use the crypt(1) facility to avoid having to install any software
on their Unix customers' machines. (I know it sounds a bit confusing.)

They don't really want to spend the time (and money) to write their own
version of crypt(3C). They are very interested in getting this code in
a way which will not cause AT&T to hassle them.

Any leads would be appreciated.

(I posted this to everybody because I figure there is a decent chance somebody
outside the US has already done this work, since AT&T didn't provide them
with it.)
