[net.wanted.sources] Wanted: TCP/IP command server

Is there such a thing as a generalized command server (daemon and
applications) for TCP/IP.  In our environment, equivalent machines
(for rsh) are not feasible.  Something like uux with a L.cmds file
would be great.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks...
