[net.wanted.sources] Public Domain emacs source needed

jlh@loral.UUCP (09/05/86)

I find myself needing an emacs for a PC clone. I'd prefer to have
source in C but will take what I can get. Note I don't need a full
blown emacs, just the basic insert, delete, find functions will do
me. Also please be aware I've never used emacs so I really don't
know what I'm talking about. It's for school.

Speaking of school, has anybody written a program to help figure out
the classes to take for a degree. The catalogs say to take 3 classes
from this list of 9, 3 from this list of 7, 2 from this list, and then
8 electives. You sit there and say 'hmmmmm. Advanced seventh dimensional
calculus as applied to Brady Bunch reruns sounds interesting. Prerequistites
are math 3,4,88,97,435. How many of these are in group a, b, and c?'
I'm sure you realize what I mean here. It seems to me like it would be
easy to have a spreadsheet type deelebob where you could say 'I want this
class' and it would mark the prereqs off your list of things needed.
Then you could do the good ol 'well what if I....' without drowning in
paper. Another neat feature would be to convert school names into
human names for classes, i.e. math 437 becomes advanced calculus.

Please respond to this by mail, if I get anything from this and enough
other people want the sources I'll post them to net.sources. Or if
you have the sources you can post them there. Thanks.
