Obviously, this discussion has already made its rounds once, but I found a new piece of data yesterday that might spark some interesting remarks. According to the April issue of "Technology Illustrated" (page 64) in an article titled "The New Mobile Telephones": "The FCC has authorized 666 channels (for two-way communication) in the UHF band for the new service [cellular telephones]." The article later goes on to say that the Bell system is the largest (although not the only one) of the companies getting into the act of producing user-end equipment for this project. Kinda gives a whole new slant on "the number of the beast". (Maybe you can reach him [it?] by cellular telephone soon!) Not afraid to use the "6" on my phone, Randal L.
