For those unfamiliar with the Tartan 27's, they are a "classic-style"
sloop designed by S&S for Great Lakes (hence the centerboard) and
East-Coast cruising. They're extremely popular back East (where the
27's practically built Tartan's reputation single-handed), but you
don't see many out here.
The style is a bit heavier and narrower than those being designed and
built today, but it's also much sturdier and (at least) as fast.
Overall, an extremely reliable (and pretty) boat.
Currently located on Orcas Island in the San Juan's (Washington).
