For sale:
Callan Unistar 300. This is a 68010 Multibus machine running UNIX System V
(the full distribution, with vi and other civilized amenities); 1 Mb memory;
43 Mb Winchester; Diskette drive; 45Mb cartridge drive.
The machine is two years old and in perfect condition, which is more than
one can say for Callan, which is bankrupt. There is, however, an active market
in Callan boards. The CPU and memory boards are by Callan; the rest of the
machine (hard and soft disk controllers, disk drives, cartridge drive, etc.) is
standard Multibus equipment.
This machine also has the Absoft Fortran 77 compiler, which is extremely fast.
We have compiled and loaded a 3000-line Fortran 77 program on the Callan, on
an IBM PC/AT (Microsoft compiler), and on our new machine, a MicroVAX II running
Ultrix. Approximate compile and load times: PC/AT, 45 min; Callan, 45 sec;
MicroVAX II, 2 min.
