[net.misc] What would you do?

dir (03/23/83)

A scenario: You are an industrial scientist. You write an empirical
research paper on something you find fascinating and others might find
interesting too. You are told by your employer that the paper cannot
be published. Possible reasons may include:

Reason Real Reason
------------------------ -------------------------------------------------
National Defense political, eg. some aspects of fiber optics
Taints company reputation political, eg. EMP in the 1950's
Morality belief, unpopular idea, eg. race vs. IQ
Unscientific ideas belief, anti-paradigm, eg. ESP, acupuncture
Not in company's interest economic, you're not paid to think about that
------------------------ -------------------------------------------------
I've encountered 3/5 so far.
So much for science.
