Can anyone recommend a symbolic math package for the following linear algebra problem: Solve (and simplify the solution) a set of N+1 linear equations in N variables (known to have a unique solution) of the form Ax=0, where A is sparse, and after the first n rows, a 3 by 9 block keeps repeating along the diagonal (except for the last set of three rows). The coefficients are to be given in two parmeters, and I would like to get x in terms of those parameters. N will be up to about 100. Ideally, I would like to enter the coefficients (in terms of the two parameters) into a matrix as is done in Lotus, Visicalc, etc. I would also prefer a package that is already available within Bell Labs, and which will let me get through enough of the documentation to solve this problem very quickly.
