The Symbolic Computation Group is receiving applications for a visiting fellowship for the summer 1986. This position is available for either a junior or a senior person who would like to spend between 10 weeks and 6 months doing research in Symbolic Algebra at the University of Waterloo. The visit is intended to coincide with the Symsac 86 conference which will take place at Waterloo next July. Financial support will be available. There is no a-priori restriction on the topic, provided that it is in symbolic algebra. The group has done, or is doing, research in language design, probabilistic algorithms, Grobner bases, Risch integration, solution of diophantine equations, gcd algorithms, Hensel techniques, definite integration, differential equations, etc. The SCG is a research group within the Computer Science department. Four faculty members are closely involved with the group. One of SCG's main activities is the development of the Maple language. The SCG has four staff members, including 3 system programmers.
