[net.math.symbolic] Visiting fellowship

ghgonnet@watmum.UUCP (Gaston H. Gonnet) (12/11/85)

The Symbolic Computation Group is receiving applications
for a visiting fellowship for the summer 1986. This position is
available for either a junior or a senior person who would like
to spend between 10 weeks and 6 months doing research in Symbolic
Algebra at the University of Waterloo. The visit is intended to
coincide with the Symsac 86 conference which will take place at
Waterloo next July. Financial support will be available.

There is no a-priori restriction on the topic, provided
that it is in symbolic algebra. The group has done, or is doing,
research in language design, probabilistic algorithms, Grobner
bases, Risch integration, solution of diophantine equations,
gcd algorithms, Hensel techniques, definite integration,
differential equations, etc.

The SCG is a research group within the Computer Science
department. Four faculty members are closely involved with the
group. One of SCG's main activities is the development of the
Maple language. The SCG has four staff members, including 3
system programmers.
