here is an amusing little worded puzzle:
  there is a simple english word of only one syllable and three letters that has the peculiarity that if we add one letter at the end,it becomes another farmilia english word of three syllables.

I suppose you can't count 'ore' and 'Oreo', but how about
'are' and 'area'?
