I'm a first time net-poster looking for anybody who has a detailed understanding of the IBM PC/TIPC relationship. Appendix D of the MS DOS 2.1 manual sums up the software incompatability issues, but noone, including people at TI, seems to be able to answer the hardware questions. I believe TI basically pirated the IBM design and modified it enough to be painful, especially in the area of graphics. However, I've had my eye on a multi-function board (AST 384K SIX-PACK) but am not willing to dish out the bucks on a gamble that TI had enough fore- sightedness to leave the hardware intact. Has anyone been sucessful in using the IBM hardware in the TIPC? Is there a list of hardware products that work on both machines? I am even willing to make minor hardware changes if need be. Forget it. TIPC has been described as this: Dare to be different. They mean it. As far as I know, there are NO expansion card for IBM can be used for TI. You have to look into persyst borad, or the seeker board from western automation. Be also very careful about harddisk controllers cause they are NOT compatible to the IBM PC. Apparantly, the people in TI Austin had made some unwise decision several years back. But I think they should have learnt this already. For us who got TIPC, either we throw it away, or we stick with it for another while. Hold on! hu%smu.csnet@csnet-relay
