If you want to run Whitesmiths Edition 2.2 software, you better have one of Bill Plauger's coded authorization seals on your computer. Now, does that mean that if he suspects I am running a stolen copy of his software, he will get a search warrant from a court and be able to look at all of my files as well as my computer to see if I have the seal? I wonder where on the com- puter the seal must be placed? CPU board? Disk? Console? Ahh, maybe he should sell multiple seals to be placed on all terminals accessing the soft- ware. If this catches on, perhaps DEC will sell a special "Seal Display Panel option" for the VAX at a small nominal fee.
