[net.misc] Stamp your VAX

If you want to run Whitesmiths Edition 2.2 software, you better have one of
Bill Plauger's coded authorization seals on your computer. Now, does that
mean that if he suspects I am running a stolen copy of his software, he will
get a search warrant from a court and be able to look at all of my files as
well as my computer to see if I have the seal? I wonder where on the com-
puter the seal must be placed? CPU board? Disk? Console? Ahh, maybe he
should sell multiple seals to be placed on all terminals accessing the soft-
ware. If this catches on, perhaps DEC will sell a special "Seal Display
Panel option" for the VAX at a small nominal fee.
