From PATTERMANN@SUMEX-AIM.ARPA Mon Aug 6 18:58:36 1984 I have been using the Mac Asm/editor a great deal lately, and like it a lot. BUT... It has a few problems... 1) it does not seem to handle multiplication in arguments or equates 2) it is not as smart as some others I have used in that if you want to move something into an address register you MUST use MOVEA, ADDA etc 3) you cant send the printout directly to a printer, it either goes to a file or to the screen 4) they could have made the ERROR window bigger!!! 5) the PRINTER utility that I have that is SUPPOSED to print files that where spooled to disk does not recognize the .lst files created by the assembler GOOD POINTS... 1) the editor is VERY nice to use (I like it MUCH better than MACWRITE) as somebody else mentioned, it has auto-indent 2) the capabitlity to TRANSFER from any of the three parts to any of the other two with out going back to the system is FANTASITC.. 3) the assembler file selection has a 'filter by time' option that defaults to on, this option ONLY displays files to be selected that have a modified date NEWER than the .REL file.. This is great if you are editing a lot of segements of a big system and forget which ones you have edited and which ones you have not. 4) it appears to be fairly quick, I have only recently started using it for anything larger than a couple of pages. so I cant comment to good on the speed... Overall I am VERY pleased with this system and will buy it from a dealer the day they get it in, (I, howver, am not holding my breath) If anybody has any questions on this system, I will try to answer them..
