From: CMP.BARC@UTEXAS-20.ARPA When Steve Jobs spoke at the University of Texas last Tuesday (Fat Mac's birthday), he naturally made a few remarks about the 512K conversion. Some of them augment Newton's Q/A report. The October 1 availabilty date for the upgrades was described as conservative (Don't we wish all those other release dates for Mac products had been conservative?). He said that 4-5000 upgrade kits were being shipped on Sept. 12. He described the free MacDraw and MacProject as a token of Apple's appreciation for the brave pioneers who supported Apple's innovation. I guess that they feel that an investment of $2495 is braver and more supportive than one of a mere $1000-1200. And they have a point. The UT consortium prices were $1850 for the Mac 512K and $800 for the upgrade. Dallas Webster (CMP.BARC@UTexas.ARPA) -------
