From: Thomas.Newton@cmu-cs-spice.arpa More reason to distrust the "Press Release for the 512K Introduction" (which claims the only difference between 128K and 512K boards is the memory chips, as well as claiming that Consortium upgrades don't include Draw/Project): #: 107399 Sec. 5 - Mac/Lisa Hardware Sb: #107362-MAC UPDATE TO 512K 18-Sep-84 22:50:00 Fm: Bill Atkinson 75106,263 To: Bennie Warren 75066,775 Bennie, just unsoldering the 64K chips and soldering in 256K chips will not work. The upgrade consists of an entirely new printed circuit board that has been fully tested and burned in at the Mac factory. The new board has several new traces and a pad for a new PAL chip used for address decoding. I would advise you to get the real thing from Apple. enjoy your Mac, Bill Atkinson
