From: C27830AD@WUVMD IN REPLY TO WERNER UHRIG`S QUESTION ABOUT SPELLING OUT THE FULL NAME OF THE DISK IN BASIC: OPEN MYDISK:PROGRAM NAME MICROSOFT`S NEW BASIC 2.00, RECENTLY MENTIONED IN INFOWORLD AND MACWORLD MAKES THIS SIMPLER IF DONE IN IMMEDIATE MODE--USING OPEN ON THE FILE MENU BRINGS FORTH THE TYPE OF DIALOG BOX USED FOR OPEN IN MACWRITE--YOU CLICK THE BUTTON FOR THE OTHER DRIVE, AND GET A SCROLL BOX OF ALL THE TEXT AND PROGRAM FILES ON THE DISK; THIS SORT OF BOX IS ALSO AVAILABLE USING A NEW OPEN$ FUNCTION FROM WITHIN A PROGRAM, WITH THE TYPE OF FILES SHOWN UNDER PROGRAM CONTROL (APPL,ZSYS, ETC.) REPORTS IN INFOWORLD AND COMPUSERVE ARE THAT UPGRADE WILL BE EITHER FREE, $10, OR $25. I`D EXPECT THE LATTER FIGURE, SIMPLY GIVEN THE COMPLETELY NEW MANUAL AND COSTS OF HANDLING. THIS IS A SUPERB BASIC--PROVIDES EVENT TRAPPING ON MOUSE EVENTS, TIMING, EDIT BOXES, WINDOW EVENTS (CLOSE, REFRESH, ETC.). THE CURRENT VERSION HAS ONLY ONE MINOR BUG (TO BE FIXED) AND ONE FEATURE (THAT WILL NOT BE FIXED)--ON A 128K MAC, YOU CAN`T OPEN MOST DESK ACCESSORIES, WITHOUT CAUSING A BOMB ID=14. PERHAPS THIS CAN BE FIXED BY TUNING THE HEAP SIZE, BUT I HAVE YET TO TRY. BY THE WAY, MOST FEATURES OF MACBASIC THAT ARE "MACISH" ARE ALSO IMPLEMENTED IN MS-BASIC 2.00.
