From: zauderer%ucbcory@Berkeley (Marvin M. Zauderer) I'm writing software for the Mac via Lisa Pascal, and I'm wondering whether I can create MacWrite data files and have my programs operate on the data in those files. Has anyone tried this? I vaguely recall reading a message about doing this from MacPascal - can a similar procedure (whatever it is - please let me know) be applied in the Lisa Workshop environment? I've tried reading MacWrite files (programmatically) but I get extraneous characters along with the text. Thanks, Marvin

From: decvax!dartvax!crs@uw-beaver.arpa (Carl Spitzer) MacWrite files saved as "Entire Document" (as opposed to "Text Only") will appear to have garbage characters mixed in. These are MacWrite's formatting characters, and will go away if you explicitily save the file as Text-Only, using Save As... from the file menu. If this is not your problem, get in touch w/ me as I have successfully read from MacWrite (Text-only) documents. Hope this was some help, Carl Spitzer
