[net.misc] Smoking ban in public places proposed in Sweden

minow (04/29/83)

The Swedish government is considering banning all smoking in
public places and limiting smoking at work to special "smoking
rooms." There would also be specific rules for resturants
and other meeting places. This is being proposed because
of the dangers to non-smokers.

The major Swedish newspaper, Dagens Nyheter, surveyed peoples
attitude to the proposed change. More than 90% were in favor.
Dagens Nyheter also noted that, although more women smoke than
men, women were even more solidly behind the regulation.
