From: FAILOR%LLL@LLL-MFE.ARPA From: Bruce Failor <FAILOR@LLL.MFE> To: info-mac@SUMEX-AIM.ARPA A while back I heard that there is a Tektronix terminal emulator for the Mac. Does anyone out there have experience with one of these and know how I can get a hold of one? I hope I can use it to do some scientific plotting and display of experimental data. Bruce Failor -------

From: Robert E. Yellen (MISD-SEAD) <ryellen@Ardc.ARPA> I have been using Tekalike by Mesa Graphics,PO Box 506, Los Alamos,NM 87544 telephone 505-672-1998,price $250 for the Mac.$350 for the Lisa. I have not used the Lisa version. The software emulates the Tektronix 4014 I've been using it on our CDC mainframes, in conjunction with Plot10 and TEMPLATE. There is one bug in version 1.10-when using the cursor incorrect screen location is returned. We are working in conjunction with Jim George of Mesa Graphics to iron this out. I haven't seen anyone mention the "GriffinTerminal" terminal emulator program developed at Reed College and distributed by Metaresearch, Inc., 1100 SE Woodward, Portland, OR 97202, phone: 503-232-1712. This is a Tektronix 4012 graphics-compatible emulator and I've been pretty happy with it. Tekalike may do more, I don't know, but GriffinTerminal is a lot cheaper. Metaresearch provides a listing of a UNIX TERMCAP file for the Mac with this emulator so that one can use the vi screen editor (but you'll have trouble with emacs).
