[fa.info-mac] Font! Fonts! Fonts!

info-mac@uw-beaver (info-mac) (09/22/84)

From: KSPROUL@RUTGERS.ARPA

To all of you who have requested my Fonts Disk(s), and those that want to...

I have now gotten ALL of the fonts that were imporatant enough to wait for..
and LOTS of others too.. (The REAL important one I was waiting for was the
Princeton Math Font, which I got straigt from the authors..)

I have also gotten permission from Apple to include the Font Editor, and
Resource Mover with this stuff!!! The reason is that these programs are
buggy, and are going to be replaced by something called the Resorce Editor..

So this will make it MUCH easier for anybody that gets this font stuff..

Now for the BIG problem.... This stuff (espcially with the programs) has
gotten way above 400K!!... There are really LOTS of fonts out there for the
MAC.. i.e. this disk will include

The Princeton Math Font
Other Math Fonts

Greek

Several Russian/Cyrillic Fonts

A couple German Fonts..

A set of Music fonts

A few different wierd fonts such as elvish, runes..

All sorts of NEAT fonts such as bubbles..

At least one script font

The CompuServe Fonts

And Much much more..

Now the problem is that since this stuff is well above 400K, It would
make sense to just come out with a two volume set at the beginning instead
of waiting a few more months for the next volume.. Another reason for this
is that I dont want to have to go through this again anytime real soon..

Soo... What I would really like to do is send the 2-disk set out with a note
that says, 'you owe be $5 for the 2nd disk, would be so kind to send it to me'.

If I think that this will work, that is what I will go ahead and do, BUT every
body MUST send me the extra 5 bucks, or I will go broke!! (Some people where
either nice enough to send a couple extra bucks, or 2nd guessed one of
my comments that there might be a 2nd disk in 1st Q 1985... so these people
are already covered)...

Now, if I get enough responces within the next few days that people think
this honesty thing will work, I will go ahead and do it (Even to the point
of I would include the SASE with the disk to get the money back)....

And for the people that want this and havent sent me anything yet, you
can just send $12, instead of $7 and get the two volume set...

BTW: This has turned from being a 'small favor' for the people on the net
to a quite LARGE undertaking...But Oh well.. I still think it is worth while
and should be done, and since somebody should do it, and I have started,
why not... (Hopefully somebody will return the favor someday)

Another reason why the stuff has gotten so big, is that some of the more
usefull fonts (i.e. Princeton Math Font, and a couple of the other math fonts
actually came with some useful documentation!!!!

Anyway, since I have rattled long enough...

Anybody else that wants these Fonts Disk(s) Send $12 (instead of $7) to me at

Disclaimer: This is STRICTLY non-profit and is for the benifit of the
people on the INFO-MAC BBoard system, and if I had to do it over, I would
at least think twice before voluntering for a job that had the possiblity
of getting so big so quick..

PS: Special thanks to the Univ of Texas for all of the nice fonts they
contributed to this, and to S.H. Lam of Princeton for the Princeton
Math Fonts, and to Apple for allowing me to include the Font-editor
and Resorce mover

Keith--

I just received your epic collection of Mac fonts. All of us who
signed up are indebted to you for persevering in what started out as a
"small favor" for fellow Arpanauts. It was worth the wait.
