From: lhasa!stew@harvard.ARPA I have written several extensions to the MacForth editor that I would like to share with other MacForth users. The extensions include those written by Dave Schermerhorn, which were placed by him into the public domain, and is based on the editor distributed with MacForth, although little remains of that original editor. This version includes a search facility, insert/delete block, change file, indentation-hacking tab, and a few other things. Questions: 1) Is there any interest in this? Only a few MacForth related messages have come through on this list. Has someone started a private mailing list for MacForth that is getting all the forth-related traffic? 2) What are the legalities involved? I want to put my version into the public domain. Schermerhorn got around the problem of including CSI's editor code by just including the appropriate parts of "Editor Blocks" from that file at load time. However, my editor has considerably more changes and this approach would not be practical. Must I get permission from CSI to distribute an editor based on theirs? Or can I just assume that anyone who might use this must have purchased MacForth anyway? Of course, I would include their coyright notice in my distribution... From: cornell!vax135!houxm!whuxl!whuxlm!hank@uw-beaver.arpa Personally, I am very interested in seeing your new MacForth editor. As usual, this interest is purely personal, and is not endorsed by my employer. Thanks, Hank Strub @ AT&T Bell Laboratories, Whippany, NJ my net address is : whuxlm!hank
