From: paver@ut-ngp.ARPA (Bob Paver) Anyone have any ideas why MacTerminal will not dial through my US Robotics Auto Dial 212A when set to 7 data bits and even parity? I've found that I can use 8 data bits and no parity just fine and then switch the settings to 7/even after I've connected. The USR modem is Hayes "compatible". MacTerminal is version .5. Another thing I had to do was jumper pins 5 and 20 on the 25-pin connector to the modem to hold DTR high. As I'm not an rs232-c expert, I have no idea why this must be done. The pins I'm using are: Mac Modem 5 2 9 3 1 7 7 20 (with 5 tied to 20) Any answers or speculation?

From: ihnp4!stolaf!mmm!sontag@uw-beaver.arpa (Hugh Sontag) There is a bug in the Apple Macintosh ROMS that makes 7-bit 1200 baud transmission incorrect. I do know that if you set 6 bits it will work correctly -- but that's not an option with MacTerminal! Let's hope that Apple fixes this problem on the Mac before in the released version of MacTerminal.
