From: mark@harvard.ARPA (Mark Lentczner) -=- I too and quite pleased at the Mac keyboard containing so few keys. I have used machines with millions of keys (Stanford's SAIL comes to mind) and the problem I find is that so many not too frequently used functions get attached to keys that I can't ever remember. I think that those functions should be in menus where I can go preuse them and jog my memory. On the whole I want my keyboard for typing, and the Mac keyboard lets me do exactly that. The few commands that are used often enough to be on the keyboard should surley fit in the 50 clover keys (or 100 if you allow shift-clover to have a second meaning, although I start getting dubious at that point). I agree that the clover key is in the wrong place, but I do like the caps lock key to be physically locking. Perhaps what I want is software control over physical locking.... (OK all you hardware types: go for it!) -just adding my two cents- -mark lentczner electronic music studio music department harvard university cambridge, ma 02138 lentczner@harvard {allegra,genrad,ihnp4,ima,ucbvax}!harvard!lentczner +p
