From: "Paul R. Hudspeth" <apple%clemson.csnet@csnet-relay.arpa> Just thought I'd share a few things I've noted lately that may be of some help to a few of you out there. Ever been working with multiple disks and you wished you could change which disk was the Startup Disk? To do this, open the System Folder of the disk that is to become the Startup Disk and, while holding down the Option key AND the command (cloverleaf) key, double click on the Finder. Presto! That disk is now the Startup Disk. Keith Sproul did a great job with the MacFonts disks (thanks Keith), but be aware that not all of the Fonts on the two disks have unique font numbers and may collide with each other. By the way, 20 fonts is the most you can work with in MacWrite or MacPaint. Actually, that's not completely true; you can use 21 fonts but the 21st font literally causes the Fonts menu to go off the screen and it is very dificult (but not impossible) to select that last font. For those of you that haven't seen it yet, MS-Basic 2.0 is in my opinion (but not my employer's...) fantastic. Really makes me wonder if Microsoft didn't steal some of Apple's thunder from MacBasic. Dennis Brother's Macbak.110 MS-Basic program doesn't seem to work under the new version of Basic but every other program I've tried has been completely compatible. All of the griefs I had with MS-Basic 1.0 have been amended. When you're working with the destop and you open a disk or folder and then that window becomes covered up by another window, it's not neccessary to move the top window out of the way to make the bottom window active. Just double click on the icon of the already opened disk or folder and it's window will automatically jump to the top of the windows and become active. As a closing note, would someone "out there" who has access to the files on Arpanet, please mail me a binhex'ed version of the PD 512 RAM disk. I guess the editor of INFO-MAC would be the logical person. Thanks in advance. Paul R. Hudspeth Clemson University Clemson, SC APPLE@CSNET-RELAY.CLEMSON (I think I got the syntax right)
